Setting Up Your New Shop
The administration program main menu lists a number of things that you can change to customize your shop. For the initial setup, we recommend that you follow each link in the menu in the order that they are listed.
Page Setup: Use this form to set your shop name, page colors, and background image.
  • Your shop name will show up as the title on pages in your shop.
  • You can set page colors by either selecting a predefined color from the list, or by entering your own color in the box. If you want to use your own custom color, be sure that "Other" is selected in the color list.
  • If you want to use a background image on all of your pages, you can enter the URL for the image in the space provided. Check your entry carefully, because the program has no way to tell if you've entered a valid URL. If the URL is invalid, you simply won't get a background image on your pages.
  • When you have entered your selections, you can select "Preview Page Setup "to make sure the colors you have chosen will look good. If you do not like your choices, use the "Back" button on your browser to go back and change them.

  • When you are happy with your choices, select "Update Page Setup" to save your setup. When the setup is saved, click on the link back to the Main Menu.
Contact Info Setup: Use this form to enter your contact information, the name, address, phone and fax numbers, and email address where people can reach you for questions or orders.
  • The first set of fields is for the information about your shop that you want to appear at the bottom of each page of your shop. Enter as many or as few of the fields as you want.
  • The second set of fields is for the address and phone numbers where you want to receive orders. Some of these fields are required depending upon what kind of payments you want to accept.
  • The Order Dept. Name and Address are required if you want to accept payments by Check or Money Orders. It is assumed that you will also accept credit card orders mailed to this address.
  • If you provide a Phone or Fax order number, it is assumed that you will accept Credit Card orders over the phone or by fax.
  • If you want to accept Credit Card orders online, then you must provide an email address for orders. You will also be required to provide a PPG public key for this address, so your orders can be encrypted before they are mailed.  See the "Set PPG Key" section below.

  • Select "Update Contact Info" to save your changes, when you are done.  Then follow the link back to the main menu.
Configuration Setup: Use this form to setup your inventory database options and your shipping options.
  • If you have a large, varied inventory, you will want to separate your shop into categories. This will allow you to assign a category to each item, and the items in your shop will be listed by category to make it easier for your clients to find things. If you split your shop into categories, you will also give your clients a simple search form they can use to locate item. Smaller shops will not want to split into categories, and your items will all be listed on the shop main page.
  • Next, you need to select which optional fields you want to use to describe the items in your inventory. The choices are:
    • Part Number - Use if you keep your inventory by part numbers.
    • KU - Use if you keep track of Skis (bar code numbers).
    • Weight - Can be used for information, or to calculate shipping. See the Shipping By Weight option below.
    • Size - Use if any of your items require size selections.
    • Color - Use if any of your items require color selections.
    • Sale Price - Use if you want to list a special sale price on some of your items. This will be listed as a markdown for the normal price.
    • Description - Use this if you want the ability to provide a text description that will be listed with each item.

    • Image - Use this if you want the ability to provide an image with each item.
